CITISPA is backed by a Beauty Group with more than 30 years of history (set up in 1975), which was founded by Ms Christine Tan.

The business started with a Beauty Centre and expanded into the spa market in 1997. It has since grown to 23 outlets in Singapore. CITISPA also has a presence in Malaysia. In addition, the group has successfully franchised its spa business in Asia since 2001.

Mr Gerald Teo joined the CITISPA group in 2001 and was responsible for setting up the Malaysian flagship spa in Kuala Lumpur in 2003. In 2005, he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer.

Under his care, CITISPA has grown from strength to strength from an original 5 branches to its current scale, fulfilling its mission of becoming the premier spa and beauty provider in Asia.

He successfully led the transition of the company from a traditional Beauty Centre to a Spa Provider that is always at the forefront of trends and technology, thus increasing the group turnover by more than 200%. Mr Gerald Teo spearheaded the CITISPA Power Run held in Mar 2010, which raised over $100,000 for underprivileged children, continuing in the CITISPA tradition of social-responsibility.

He is also the driving force behind many high-profile marketing events for the group. Which range from the sponsorship of the Miss Singapore Universe contest in 2006, to the production of CITISPA’s own reality-based variety show on Mediacorp TV (which was ranked amongst the Top 10 TV shows for 2006 and 2008), to presenting the international artiste Elva Hsiao WOW! 2010 Concert in Singapore.

With a strong commitment to improve and grow the company, Mr Gerald Teo led the group to complete a Customer Centric Initiative Programme in 2010, with the help of consultants from Edward-Whistler International and supported by SPRING Singapore. He has also set the group on track to embark on a Branding Programme in 2011, and aims to achieve the S-Class Service Standard for CITISPA by 2012.

Mr Gerald Teo holds an Honours Degree in Accountancy from NTU.

Under the direction of Mr Gregory Teo, CITISPA has been expanded to include 3 more core business units.

CITISPA DERMACARE was set up in 2002 to provide high quality, non-invasive cosmetic dermatology procedures under medical supervision, but enhanced with the gentle CITISPA touch.

CITI Training Centre (later renamed as CITISPA Academy) is dedicated to offering aspiring aestheticians the opportunity to develop their skills in spa and beauty therapy. Existing industry practitioners can also upgrade their core job skills and gain beneficial life skills that will improve their effectiveness.

SHINE Studio was started in 2009 to help ladies glow with confidence by completing their top-to-toe grooming. It offers fast, effective beauty treatments like Light-Clear Hair Removal, full body Waxing, a complete range of Nail Services, Makeup Services, Diva Lash Extensions etc.

Mr Gregory Teo also secured the sole distributorship of a few exclusive French skincare brands since 1996. These include the Algologie and Phyto-C brands. Algologie is a plant and marine-based product line, while Phyto-C products boast the use of high-quality Stem Cells from the Date Palm plant. These products are only available at CITISPA Suites and SHINE Studios within Singapore.

He was responsible for encouraging the culture of corporate social-responsibility within CITISPA, by jointly-organizing a Charity Event with the Singapore Central CDC which was held in conjunction with the first Formula One Race in Singapore.

Mr Gregory Teo also led an initiative to strengthen the group’s customer support systems through extensive computerization. The first phase was completed in 2011, and continuous improvements will be made to improve the efficiency of the company’s processes.
